5 ways to enjoy fall as a host family

The year ahead will be full of lifelong memories, but there's nothing quite as exciting as the first few months with your exchange student. As weekdays fill up with school activities and sports, be sure to gather the family together for some fall fun. Use the list below as a guide to make the most out of all that fall has to offer!

1. Go apple picking

Nothing says fall like a trip to go apple picking. Collect apples in the orchards, get lost in a corn maze and go on a hay ride!

2. Attend a football game

Cheer on your home team! Check out your local club or professional team. It’s a great way to engage in the community and show your student how enthusiastic our sports games can be!

3. Get into the Halloween spirit

Decorate the house, carve pumpkins, and put together a fun costume. This is probably your exchange student's first Halloween experience!

4. Cook some fall recipes

Show your student what traditional fall recipes are all about. Whip up an apple pie, pumpkin bread, or squash soup.

5. Go on a hike

Are the leaves in your neighborhood starting to change colors? Have the afternoons begun to glow with that early evening light? Take advantage of these cooler autumn days by going on a walk or hike. It’s the perfect way to connect with one another and the great outdoors!

We're sure you have your own favorite fall activities, but you can't go wrong with these classics. Don't forget to share your adventures with the EF Community by tagging your fall adventure photos on Instagram and Facebook with #efexchangestories!
